We use 3D depth perception in many ways in our daily lives. Every time we catch a ball, walk down the stairs, thread a needle or watch a 3D movie, we rely on this ability. In this presentation Dr. Laurie Wilcox will review the information the brain uses to interpret depth and distance in the world around us. She will touch upon how this information is used to create 3D film and display systems.

Join Markham Public Library and York University as we bring to Markham a taste of the university experience. Each month YorkU faculty will bring their amazing research and provide an opportunity for our community to learn something new.

This is a FREE event, but an RSVP is required.

We're bringing back the York Alumni team to the tailgate on June 25 with the exclusive York Alumni Tailgate experience. For only $35 per person (you and up to three guests), you

You're invited to the York alumni night at the Blue Jays on Sept. 22!  

We're bringing the York Alumni team to the ball park on September 22 with the exclusive York University Alumni Night. For only $45 per person, you not only get to experience game day at the Rogers Centre while the Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees, but you also get to share in the excitement with fellow York grads along with snacks and networking.

The ticket price includes a 200-level outfield seat and a $10 food/drink voucher. One lucky alumni ticket purchaser will have their seats upgraded to Level 100 above 3rd base courtesy of our event sponsor TD Insurance

The generous and capable grads will include political and corporate leaders, diplomats, educators, commentators and social activists, a front-line opponent of gender-based discrimination, advocates for the homeless, democratic governance and ethnic diversity. They’ll be free to mock, shock, chide and challenge if they choose. So prepare for a morning and afternoon of learning, with time for conversations, lunch, beverage breaks and a glass of wine.

Markham Public Library and York University invite you to the Scholars Hub Speaker Series. The partnership brings some of York’s top academic minds to York Region.

The series, titled "Change How You See The World: Academia for Modern Life" will feature talks and expertise on climate change, sustainable energy solutions, and social responsibility.

The series will take place at the Markham Village Branch located at 6031 Highway 7. Each talk is from 7pm to 8:30pm, and for added convenience, childcare is provided for schoolage children ages 4-12.
