Conspiracy theories, fake news and systemic distrust

New and diffuse forms of media have created increased social space for the sharing and spreading of conspiracy theories and fake news. As technological and cultural trends undermine the authority of traditional sources of information such as the news media and academia, many observers have expressed concern that ours is a 'post-truth' era, and that systemic distrust in crucial actors and institutions could have unwelcome consequences. What tools, habits and dispositions can help us to develop a healthy skepticism that strikes a balance between unacceptable gullibility and unhealthy cynicism?

Join York alumnus Mark Busser to find out!

Mark is an alumnus of both York University and McMaster and is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at McMaster.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to network with other Canadians and hear this interesting lecture which quickly sold out in Hamilton.

The event is being co-hosted by both York University and McMaster University.

Networking reception and refreshments to follow. Cost includes light hors d’oeuvres and one beverage.

Limited tickets available. Get your tickets before this unique evening sells out!
